film: Portrait of Lillie

A film by Janice Movson and Jeffrey Hall.

Janice met Lillie a fellow potter at Greenwhich House Pottery.  After watching Lillie work and listening to her stories she decided to embarked on her first film project.  Together with Jeff they made Portrait of Lillie: A Passion for Art.  Lillie Miller, a 96 year old multi-talented artist, independent, still active, still learning, still fully engaged with the world around her, talks about her childhood on the Lower East Side in the 1920s and 30s,  the impact of going to the University Settlement House as a very young child and being introduced to art, music and dance. She had a successful career as a young modern dancer in the 1940's, learned to play the cello in her 60's, and continues to express herself in her 90's as a ceramicist.
